Penzadieselmash (PDM) has completed the certification of its Russian-made generators for diesel shunting locomotives.
Penzadieselmash AG (PDM, part of Transmashholding AG) has obtained the certificate of conformity from the Federal Rail Transport Certification Register (Federal Budgetary Institution “Federal Rail Transport Certification Register”) for the series production of GPP-840 DC traction generators.
The certification tests were carried out at the testing center for technical equipment for railway transport of the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Electric Locomotive Construction in the city of Novotcherkassk (Rostov region). The results of the tests confirmed compliance with the requirements of the Customs Union technical regulation “On the safety of railway rolling stock” and issued Penzadieselmash with a certificate of compliance valid for 3 years. The document is valid on the territory of the Eurasian Economic Union – Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia.
The generator was designed by PDM within the framework of the implementation of the import substitution program to replace front generators imported from Ukraine. It is part of the generator set of the diesel locomotive and is used to power the electric traction motor. The generator is equipped with an electric current coil for short-term use as a starting motor powered by a rechargeable battery for diesel starting.
The service life of the GPP-840 generator is 32 years. The insulating materials used to ensure the reliability of the traction generator at a very high level.
The generators are intended for TEM18DM diesel shunting locomotives produced by Bryansk Machine-Building Plant (BMZ, which is also part of Transmashholding).
