TMH presented its capsule passenger car concept to the Head of the Government of the Russian Federation.
The concept of the capsule passenger car developed by Transmashholding has just been presented to the President of the Government of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Mishustin, on the occasion of the “Transportation Week” currently taking place in Moscow.
The future car was presented to the Head of Government by Oleg Belozyorov, the General Director of Russian Railways (RZD), as their future operator.
The capsule car is one of the many TMH concepts developed to determine the future direction of development of mainline cars without compartments. It is already the second concept that the company will present to the general public in 2020. The aim of this type of project is to gather the opinions of users and experts on the future of long-distance train carriages.
The version of the capsule car presented during “Transport Week” foresees that each sleeping place in the future car will be separated by a curtain; each passenger will have an individual shelf, a lighting lamp and USB sockets. TMH has also thought of individual places for hand luggage, personal belongings and clothing. The reclining seat will be 15 cm longer than the traditional lying seat.
The car can also be equipped with a special compartment to store luggage, including oversized items such as bicycles or kayaks. Like all new TMH rolling stock of the last few years, the capsule car will have a sales area with vending machines as well as showers for passengers.
Special attention is given to the protection of the passengers’ health. The water and air disinfection system will neutralize up to 95% of viruses and bacteria (including coronaviruses); the cars will also be equipped with a UV treatment system for toilets and showers. It is also planned to equip them with faucets, soap dispensers and non-contact hand dryers.
Each passenger car on the train will be capable of carrying up to 56 passengers.
This project is being carried out by TMH’s engineering department responsible for the development of advanced models of rolling stock. The design of the car is developed by the National Center for Industrial Design and Innovation “2050.LAB”.
